Gernot Feldbacher
Founder and Principal, Floor1200
Engineer. Independent researcher. I build quantitative models for decisions that have become stuck between competing numbers, assumptions and interests. The work starts where opinion stops being enough.
Background
Dipl.-Ing., Polymer Engineering and Science, Montanuniversität Leoben (Mining University Leoben).
25 years with market leaders, Swiss and American, worldwide: from polymer material and product development to specialty chemicals and thermodynamic process design for oil and gas, and building his own venture.
Former officer, Austrian Armed Forces, special operations · three NATO-led deployments.
Working method
- Reduce the decision to its variables: the margins that must stay positive and the constraints that bound them.
- State every assumption as a number that can be changed.
- Run each competing position through the same model.
- Report the range, the point where the decision turns, and the limits of the calculation.
- Publish inputs and code where the work is public, so the result can be attacked.
Why Floor1200
A floor is a statement; 1200 is its value. The name comes from the first number this method defended: the energy floor of air capture, above 1200 kWh per tonne of CO2 for today's amine sorbents, set by the dilution of the feed and not by deployment.
Floor1200 exists to put disputed numbers into one model, before they are signed, voted on or relied on.
Authorship
Every publication carries its author's name, its assumptions and its limits. Where there is code, the code is deposited with the paper.
